Community Garden and Visible Garden

Ms Vinitha Shetty
Many Hindus are vegetarian. The rationale behind a vegetarian diet is to promote a physically, mentally and spiritually healthy lifestyle. The Hindu way of life is based on living in harmony with nature and the environment.
Through the Organic farm/Community garden initiative, HOLI aims at building a valuable community resource where young and old can plant and grow organic produce, promoting physical activity and healthful eating habits. The Meditation garden will provide a tranquil space for reflection and practice of yoga.
The Visible garden project will be a creative way of adding value to existing public lawns, by replacing grass with low maintenance plants, herbs or vegetables. Both children and adults can work together to create and maintain a space that adds beauty and is good for the environment.
HOLI encourages participation from all individuals in a spirit of environmental stewardship.
